Here We Go!

So I decided to start a blog...
And although this may sound really dumb, I LOVE blogs.
I have several of my friends blogs in my favorites bar because I love looking at what there are doing with there lives.

I decided to start this blog for one main reason, okay maybe two:
1. I want to keep in touch with all my friends and family who I never see now that I'm in college.
2. I'm going on a mission! So this will be where you can read my letters once I'm gone :)

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (also known as Mormons or LDS). If you have any questions as to what we believe just hop on over to mormon.org, it has lots of good resources and members storys to help answer your questions. As some of you may know the missionary age for our church recently changed from 21 to 19 for girls. Since I am 18 this is a BIG deal, I mean LIFECHANGING! Up until October 2012 when the change was announced I had every intention to come back to BYU next fall and continue with my schooling. But after countless prayers, talking with my family and my Bishop I decided that a mission was right for me. It has been a long, hard process but my mission call finally came this past Thursday and what a crazy day it was! Not only did my call come by my roommates call came as well and we were both super excited to say the least! She opened her call first and she will be going to Guatemala! After waiting a couple of hours so that I could Skype my family and one of my best friends I was able to open my call! I will be going to the Albuquerque New Mexico Mission! I report to the Provo MTC (Missionary Training Center) July 10th and I will be preaching the gospel in the English Language. There could not be a more perfect time and place for me and I know that the Lord is watching over me as I prepare to go and serve him.

Here I am opening my call:
Just look at the beautiful place I will be going:
And the beautiful temple there:

Although I won't be leaving for a couple of months I wanted to get a head start with this blog so that I am not overwhelmed right before I leave. I also have never written a blog before so it might take some time before I work out all the kinks and I don't want my mom to have to deal with all of that after I'm gone. I will try and post at least once a month before I go, (maybe once a week if I'm really dedicated) so keep on the look out for those.

Anyway, I couldn't be more excited to go and serve the Lord but I know there is still a lot I need to learn and do before I can go. If you have any questions or suggestions let me know because I need all the help I can get!
